The present study examines the representation of truth and falsehood in the myth of Jamshid and Zahhak, demonstrating that these concepts are products of ideological mechanisms. The research problem concerns the transformation of meaning within the text. The aim of the paper is to explain the linguistic and semiotic mechanisms behind this transformation and to propose a model for the inversion of truth. The theoretical framework is based on Saussurean structural semiotics, Barthes’ mythological semiotics, and the semiotic square of veridiction. This is a qualitative-analytical study. In the first stage, the narrative is divided into three phases, each analyzed in terms of explicit, implicit, and mythic significations. Then, using Greimas’ semiotic square of veridiction, the results are represented on the structural level. The analysis reveals that ideology, through language, obstructs the path of perception, thereby transforming inverted truth into perceived reality. Finally, a model is proposed to describe this mechanism, which can serve as a theoretical basis for textual analysis. The findings indicate that truth in the text is a discursive and ideological construct. Myths, by foregrounding or marginalizing one pole of the binary opposition, turn falsehood into a cultural truth and render truth an impossible or unattainable concept.
